I grabbed two skunks the last week of season and have a problem. I was able to dispatch without them spraying. Every time I skin them I am breaking the stink sacs as I am stripping the tail. The wife is not happy as you can imagine. It happened on both and previous skunks. Is there a trick that anyone knows? Obviously I am putting to much pressure on it as I pull down on the tail, but that's the only way I can strip it. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

When skinning run your knife just under the skin from the foot to the anus and then down 3/4's of the tail and gently skin this area with the knife I don't use much pressure until after I get past the hind legs

I remove glands . Both sides at same time as one. I use scalpel with a 22 blade. Then finish skinning
