I dipped a bunch in rustoleum this year. It held up good on my older worn traps but flaked and scraped on my shiny new traps. I am going to thin it a touch more than was discussed in that thread next time also.
Overall I liked it and the color blended very well with my area.

Be careful. I bought some traps from a guy that painted them. They were pretty touchy! Oouch!

alright ive gone thru all the threads on this and didnt see it mentioned, i have completed my vinegar bath on all my traps (amazing results btw!!!!) and am going to dip as per the method discussed (rustoleum primer, paint, acetone) my question is does anyone wax or "coat" with maybe full metal jacket afterward or just leave as is after dipping in paint solution? also any feedback on this for K9 traps (issues with residual scent causing refusals)? just seems to simple (to the point i feel like im cheating) when comparing to the ol boil, dye, and wax routine!!! LOL!!!

LOL!!! I did the rustoleum dip last summer, did my body grips, NO wax on body grips, OUch. I also dipped & waxed some of my foot holds and caught coon, possume and one coyote, I think after the paint drys and airs out for a week or so they are good to go. JMO

Paint your water traps, dye and/or wax your land traps.
