I've got a bucket of fish in salt and there is quite a bit of liquid being produced. I assume that's normal so my question is....How do I know when it's done and what do I do with the liquid?

You can leave it in the brine as long as you want it wont hurt anything. I usually leave it in for several weeks and then drain it off. I then leave it in the salt for a while longer to take out any additional liquid. I do this to "toughen" my fish as i like to wire them in coni boxes, poles etc.and have found that it works well for me. Ive never kept the liquid myself. The whole process usually takes a few weeks the way ive done it. The salted bait also keeps well season to season in my experience.

Dear Mr. Mexicantrapper, I do nearly the same as brother Brushwolf......I pour off the brine into gallon jugs and refrigerate until season, to be used as a trailing scent.. Regards papabea
