Should I put sodium benzoate in it or should I just use glycerin?

Dear Friend, What are you building?......Sodium Benzoate is a preservative.....Glycerin is an antifreeze basically...........Depends on what your trying to achieve.....I will try to help but need more info on what your concocting...Regards papabear

My goal is simple. I just want to use up some castor glands I have, so I figured I would make them into some sort of paste to use as a canine lure.

Dear Friend, Grind your castor and add enough glycerin to make a paste. no sodium benzoate needed. Regards papabear

Thank you sir! Since I have your attention, would you mind a few more questions?
1. I have the oil sacs too. Should I add them also? 2. Should I refrigerate since it has no preservative in the mixture?
thanks so much!

Dear Friend, Lightly salt the oil sacs, grind them and add them to your castor.......I really like beaver oil sac and believe they are more attractive than the castor itself! Regards papabear
