so ive been plinking the reds out of the birdfeeder..got about 30 now froze up.didnt want to waste them and figured since i caught marten and fox on them whole a few times i was wondering if someone had a nice formula for some bait for fox that i could use them in...or a way to taint them so they throw off a nice stench..and any suggestions what to do for a coon bait with frog carcasses minus the legs of course..thnks shawn

You can make bait out of any critterand the process is all the same....cut into walnut size chunks (or you can grind into a paste), cover lightly and then let it set until it turns gray on the outside. Stir and add anything that you want to the meat (a few drops of muskratmusk, honey essence, etc.) then letit ageuntil gray againand then stir, add sodium benzonite and you should be good!

I usually just gut squirrels, cut off the head and tail, cut in half, and freeze the pcs on a pc of wax paper and then toss in bag, then they seperate easily when needed.
I use the tail sticking 1/2 out a hole (or hang over a cat set) on 1 set and each 1/2 at 2 other sets to get 3 sets total from a single squirrel.
SB is pretty cheap and does a better job than borax, from what I've read (and asked Asa and Paul D about).
