Well....thanks to these two fine fellows, I can say, for the first time since Oct 25th.....I dont have any more coyotes to put up! Von and Eric offered to help me finish one last push for the year......60 coyotes and 20 coon got done in less than 24 hours. We filled up two more full rows behind Eric of coyotes.......... They made slave wages......too much beer, not enough food, and not nearly enough sleep......plus, they got to experience some real winter weather compared to the sun belts/fox belts where they live. lol As usual, through BSing, we figured each guy had it better than the other two regarding fur, populations, weather, access, etc. And everyone NOT there had it better than the three of us!! You shoulda been there to defend yourselves! We all picked up a tip or two from the others......everyone does things a little different than the next guy, and sometimes you see something and think, well, yeah.....duh! Can't even tell you how much this helped me....my travel schedule has been heavy and March is looking like I have a full dance card. Their help was a game changer for me........... Been a few years since I had sought help like this.......Mike Spring and Rick have helped me in the past.......we always make it a good time and high-level BS session....but in the end, its just a lot of work. Two skunks and three possums to go, and its officially over. But for now.......I can breath a sigh of relief. Thanks again guys! It was a hoot........ Zagman

Von had a special affinity for these coyotes: He wanted to take one of the nicer black ones home....but I told him that I'd miss them if he did, and I know of only one trapper that "misses" black coyotes......and it ain't me! Check this out..... We all agree.....none of us ever saw a coon with yellow fat and leather like this......even his guard hairs are yellow. The coon was yellow and black like a bumble bee. Von fleshed it, so we'll have to check on him in a few weeks to make sure he is ok and didn't contract any disease. MZ

What time of year was that "yellow" coon taken? Pretty cool pictures.

Quite a crew there. I see Mark had a chair, in the background, from which he could sit and supervise LOL Now I know why the whole weekend went by with no phone calls from the Flatiron ;D
Never saw a coon with yellowed skin like that. Used to get them out of the peanut fields in Georgia with pure yellow fat but the leather would still be white. D color both sides on that one LOL

Could it be Carotene? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CaroteneIf you have ever had a piece of beef that was grass finished vs. grain? The grass finished has yellow fat. Animals are like humans. Every one's metabolism is different. I had one ranch fox this year that started loosing weight and hair. I changed his feed from a high protein to low protein and he turned around in a week. Intresting stuff.
