It certainly doesn't LOOK like an Otter or Beaver. Lucky for him "Mr Senile" left one of the safety hooks on AGAIN. LOL Isn't it March ? Aren't these things supposed to come out it June or something. It's Too early for this nonsense !! He was fine and was quickly relocated to another pond a few hundred yards away so we don't meet up again. If he'd gone another 5 yards, He'd have eaten one of our very rare muskrats. We did get some of these today too. Some came out of bank den holes. Some came off floats. In fact, We had action in dens, runs, floats, Rat toilets, and feed beds. Hopefully no more Snappers. walleyed

I caught a snapper today about the same size. Brand new duke 330. Didn't seem to hurt him. Wouldn't you know I forgot my settin tool. Had to get him to bite on a trap stake so I could release him.
