well OK. went to check beaver traps in Pa. today. first pond by the road came up empty. Now i go back to the stop i caught 7 earlier in the year. i get down there and look over at my first set and see the set is torn up and the 280 is gone. when i looked out in the water i saw a tail and feet. cool 1 beaver. i walk up further where i have 3 sets and see i have another beaver in another 280 castor mound. 330 channel set EMPTY. now i get into the water to check a snare i had in font of a bank den. snares gone and the cable goes into the hole. So i grab the cable with my bare hands and pull on it and feel wait. i start pulling harder and i feel something pull back. THE RODEO IS ON!! i start pulling, he starts pulling, i get him out and he starts thrashing around and in the mist comes at me a bites 3 holes in my waders, i knee him in the head when he comes back at me, i let go of the cable and he goes back into the hole. so i run back to my basket and grab my 330 tongs. i go back and start again. I start pulling, he starts puling, i get him out, im swinging like a mad man, he thrashing around like crazy, i get 3 good hits on him then one bell ringer. ok its done. i let him go and go to grab the other beavers. i grab the one close by (30lbs) and go to get the other one. when i get closer i realize it pulled the stake and was way out into the waist deep water. all this time i though he was floating, i get closer and realize its head is on the bottom and its butt is out of the water. so i get this thing(50+lbs) out and go back to the one in the snare. he was still swimming in circles. so i poped him. then i look at my hands and realize there are spots worn down to meat. WHAT A FUN AND UNEVENTFUL DAY. my one finger

Have one and it is a sweet piece, .22....22mag,...and .17 HMR. Carry it all the time on the trap line.

I have been looking into getting a stainless ruger revolver.A little easier to clean if it goes into the drink and my 44's are a bit much.

ztbowtech----Wish you would of been there---- got the meanest beaver I have ever cough today---- He growled and hissed---and made at least 3 or 4 charges up the bank at me---glad the cable held---because he was out of the trap and was held by the cable --wrapped around his leg---- There is no dout he would of caused serious damage had he got to me. --- You young guys cause me some serious worry----jest thinking about you wading into a thrashing machine like he was. This was no joke---he weighed about 60 lbs. and was real mad. YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL OUT THERE.
