Hey All. New to the site and started trapping again after 25 yr layoff. I was just curious on what everyone treats the packbasket with?? Stain and Varnish??

With a wood basket I used to add a plywood bottom on the inside and out .everything was held with 4 cariage bolts, the basket was coated with linseed and allowed to dry and then I polyurathaned everything. I would get a few seasons with these, the same basket untreated was lucky to last the season.

I agree. I paid the extra money and bought a Loring pack basket. It is made out of a synthetic material. No maintenance and come with lifetime gaurantee. I called directly and talked to the owner and he even sold me a 24" basket for the price of the 22". A ten dollar savings. Owners name is Wane. Here is a picture in the back of my truck
