Dear Friend, I cant think of any reason it woulnt work. I would try to keep it from making contact with the dirt so it dosent mold on you. I personally never tried canned dog food because I dont have a long enough lead cord to reach around my line to operate the electric can opener, lol Regards papabear

Hello, I had a Bobcat set up residence on my front porch . I put out a dish of canned dog food and it would not touch it. I gave it some chunks of cut up beaver meat and that was just what he wanted. not a k 9 but maybe something to ponder. Good Luck

Dear Friend, Another point to ponder is that Im sure hunting dogs would be quite attracted to canned dog food therefore I would be very leary of using it. Regards papabear

Dear Mr. Adksasquatch, Mamabear forbids me to use her kitchen utensils without her direct supervision ( something pertaining to me taking a perfectly good utensil and turning it into a piece of junk). I once tried to filtch one of her good laddles from the kitchen to dip some fish oil from a jar and was caught red handed, to say the least she was not impressed or happy and she vowed that if I should ever want to eat again inside the house that I had better leave her kitchen utensils alone. Regards papabear

Dont worry guys, Wyatt96 (my 15 year old son) wont be using dog food. I have a couple of deer capes in the freezer still with the meat and fat. I think I'll pull one out and flesh it this weekend and put it in a jar. No sense in letting it go to waste
