For the folks that hunt coons..What calls do ya use and what gun do ya use..I have head of 22Mag's and 22lr & shotguns...Wich one works the best for you and if a shotgun is what ya use...
what size shot??? Wouldnt it make a mess of the pelts???
Do buyers mind or care for the shot holes- I would think they would..

as for calling i use coon puppies and coon puppies 2 with great results and all i use is a 22 lr

Best for me -- 22 mag 40 grain hollow points -no exit , 12 gauge with 3 " #4 Buck . 22 lr might be ok for daylight dentree calling but have seen many coon come out of tree not dead on arrival.You callin coon at night ,most will be big coon and come in quickly and not to friendly.Good sounds were suggested but dont forget coon/greyfox fight ,the best 2 sounds ever recorded mixed.Coyotes live in the corn ,dont forget about them, I almost always call at night and tote the shotgun.Have fun.

i am a fur buyer and i wont buy a coon thats been shot with ddob .dont use a shotgun if u are going to sell the pelt ever heard the saying u cant make an 8 dollar pelt a 100 dollar pelt but u can make a 100 dollar pelt worthless

i never use a shotgun for coon never have and never will only a 22 or a 22mag

glad to here . i was at an fur action 2 weeks ago a bought a realy nice bunch of coons when i got home about half of them were shot with buckshot alot of sewwing lol
