Anyone know what counties have the highest populations of cats in NY? I have always wanted to call in and shoot one, and figured I might as well start my quest now... Any info would be great, PM if you wish. Thanks, -Nick

You may have good luck getting a hold of the DEC in Stamford - Region 4 - and speaking with the wildlife biologist for furbearers. Lots of good state land to hunt for bobcats in Region 4 - I've tried some in Schoharie County, but no luck yet. If I lived closer, I'd probably be trying Delaware County often.
With little to no snow in many places so far, it will be much easier walking but harder to find tracks.

The Catskill's have the highest population in the state (that you can hunt/trap) so that's where I would look.
