do you live in an area that has an abundance of these finds? Or, do you think much of NY has similiar quantities? I certainly understand that you are giving this passion of your 1000% and not taking away from your work ethic. I am just wondering what you think the area you hunt has that others may have as well, like me, so we can look for similiar areas and finds.

I would like to learn more about the location too. Sounds like a candidate for a demo at the Rondy.

When I'm in a new area. The 1st thing I look for is water. It takes some time, But look for where the creeks and streams use to be. I have hunted as far away from water as a 1/2 mile or more. The old creek banks is what your looking for. If you look at a field, See how it has dips and some have what look like ditches. These are old creek banks. I drew in where the creek was. Attachments:

Look for red dirt. In this picture, You can see the deference in the color of the ground. The high spot is where I look for artifacts. The lower lighter color was once under water. They say man has been in this area for 8-12,000 yrs ago. So in that amount of time, A creek can move a distant from where it was when these hunters camp and live here. Some areas I hunt, Some fields will produce, while the 1 next to it won't have a flake in it. Walking is the key. Go slow. I have already worn out 1 pair of sneakers this yr. Some days are better for hunting than others. I like cloudy days like today!! If you walk long enough, you will find something. After a rain is the best time to go. Most important thing is permission. Always get permission. I have farms I mite hunt once a yr. as they only produce little. While others will keep giving after a good rain. Even after you see somebody else out in a field. Nobody finds them all!!! But I do get under the skin of 1 guy!! lmao. He says I don't leave him anything. Hey, I'm out there to pick up artifacts, not run from 1 field to another trying to beat everybody else. Some of the stuff he almost finds. I know of 2 celts in my collecttion from this yr. alone. So like I said, Go slow. No since being out thwere if ya just going to run past a point or something else. They have been people out picking up this stuff for yrs. Old farms familys usally have stuff they're grandfathers have picked up. Some real nice collections. Hope this helps and will try to answer any questions I can. I'm just a fieldwalker. Attachments:
