One quick question the market now in 2016 looks very bleak would you advise a Trapper to skin , flesh then roll his fur and freeze and hope for better prices next year as fur in a freezer won't last more than a year, other than yotes of coarse which one might make gas money on or pay exspences, I trap because for the pleasure and not the money but want to cover my cost of running aline. But what would you advise to a recreational trapper ?

I have a moose cape and some caribou hides from Alaska. Is anyone interested in purchasing them and/or the antlers? They are in good shape.

Hi Lee, Do you buy Bear hides? I have a 3 legged bear that I skinned. I didn't cut above the sternum. I peeled it and didn't cut the slit in the leg either . Let me know if interested. Thank you.

It was and still is my great confusion regarding fur prices. Based on the postings ratio ( sellers/buyers) it goes 1 buyer's post(reply) for every 1250 topic views( I can guess they are from prospective fur sellers). In general it seems to me a buyer is doing a mercy to a fur seller or almost a mitzva. Now I can read about Mark's ( a seller) offer to ship fur and get a check by mail. I'm curious if I'm gonna get more than I have to spend on shipping fee even with USPS. So, dear prospective buyer(s) - please teach those stupid trappers like me about the principal a lot of people are talking here on the Forum : how to navigate prices. If you want - be the one and create a new topic something like "Fur purchase prices for dummies" and disclose the industry secrets. Now when gas and diesel prices are everywhere above $4.30 ( NYS) per gallon I have to understand and calculate if my trip to/from a fur sale point is profitable for me. Can you, my dear hypothetical friend - a fur buyer, teach me and other thousands of NYTrappers forum visitors about what we gonna expect to deposit on our checking accounts after selling our annual harvest?
