Edit: They have now created a Go Fund Me site for the Montana trappers. This is another way to help out and is quick and easy. They are pushing it over on Trapperman and getting a lot of support.

I was contacted and asked to post this on the NY site for any help any of us are willing to share....
Montana is a ballot-initiative state and they have a ballot (I-177) with enough signatures to warrant attention, and possibly, regulations.
The Montana Trap-Free Public Lands Initiative I-177 will end commercial and recreational trapping on public lands.
If you've been to any western state, you know what high-percentage of land is public vs. private.
Just like many of these fights, you may think you will never trap in that state, and therefore, you may not concern yourself with it.
But, as you also know, once they are successful in one state, they move on to the next one. When will our/your state be in the bulls-eye?
Google this Initiative if you want to read more about the people behind it....
Those on our side are pushing more of "land use" argument than a "anti-trapping" argument to rally support from sportsman's groups outside of trapping. Our side will need a huge war chest to fight this battle.
This is the contact info for Jim Buell, from the MTA, they are going to need monetary help to get the word out, and get the sportsmen to the polls. If you would like to help here is Jim's contact info.
Jim Buell,
P.O. Box 133, Gildford, MT 59525

This money will go right to the source vs. going to a larger, national-type organization.
IF you send any help, please make a note that it came from this website. They are putting together a map of the US and hope to get help from every state, and I think our's can be on that map as well.
Thanks!
MZ
