Hey all. I had planned on a decent water line this year. I've secured permission at three swamps and a nice creek with beaver and rats present, but after looking at the speculative prices here and on other sites I feel that maybe I should shift gears and plan to target fox and coyote as hard as possible and not spend so much time up to my arse in the muck. Problem is, I've never caught a canine. Shot many, but never trapped a one. What to do? All opinions, expert advice, and downright bullcrap taken with a grain of salt, and possibly a beer! Arrowsmith

Same as always, not changing a thing. Well, actually, since I didn't get to trap much last season, the big change will be trapping more of the season.

What ever you have to trap ; Target that. I would want to be sure that I am after Prime fur. Watch the weather and be patient. Take time handling any fur that you get. Do as good a job as you can. A lot of money is either made and or lost in the fur shed.
Enjoy the great outdoors.

If you trap for the money you are doing it for the wrong reason IMO...

I will be running traps for everything and anything I can. Biggest difference for me this year is I will be putting up my own fur instead of selling green.

Same as always for me except going to try some home made K9 bait and try out a couple different type sets from my usual. Haven't caught a Weasel yet so will set more traps for them this season.

Doug, I almost cringe when I catch them, I really love those little critters. Very cool li'l dudes! But honestly I'm also thrilled when I do catch them. Good luck!
