try updating your information first. Some guys were saying if your info isn't updated or correct it locks you out of getting certain licenses. Thanks, but that didn't work.

I give up on trying to buy online. Will stop at the town clerks office after work. I had the same problem as you Doug. when I got to the page where it says log in OR create an acct. I created an account since I've never logged in before. problem is I unknowingly had an account created by the town clerk when I got my last license. Now I have TWO accounts and can't buy a license on either. GGGRRRRR!!!!!!

SO anyone that has had a previous license has an account, you have to update the account you have, or you will have two accounts and not be able to purchase online.

I know it's frustrating and I started this off with a little bit of venting and even some misunderstood sarcasm (meant to be humorous about the "list" and "flying" but apparently taken too literally) but as I stated, this is more about documenting problems so we know about them and also to hopefully provide feedback to any DEC personnel monitoring this site. It's not about bashing. Helpful tips are of course welcome; anything constructive is welcome. But most of all, documenting any problems you encountered. If you haven't encountered any problems, yippee, but --- well, you're welcome to include your experience but let's refrain from stating that because YOU didn't have a problem, then obviously NO ONE did, and --...yeah. On and on. That doesn't contribute anything.

Just got back from Philipson's, no problems whatsoever getting the trapping license. The guy at the counter remembered me when I got there, and he turned to the guy he was training and asked if he was there on Monday. The trainee shook his head, and then the trainer - Bob T. on the name tag - started laughing and began telling him about the different things that happened on Monday, most of them after I had left. Bob told the other guy to watch how he did the trapping license so that if there were any problems he'd know what to do since he - the trainee - hadn't done any trapping licenses yet. The trainee asked, "What's the fix if there's problems?" Bob replied, "They told us there wasn't a fix from our end, it should all be up and running. We'll see..."
Well, we did see, and it went smooth as silk. And maybe a bit less than a minute. Bob said they had only a couple of isolated problems from Tuesday on, nothing like Monday. So, that's good news.

went online to get my license. I live two miles from GM in Tonawanda. Had every thing except duck stamp in less time than it takes me to drive there. You need to click on the hunting "button" to put that in your cart. Click hunting again to have the other options pop up, bow, muzz, turkey, dmp, ect. You will get a chance to make your dmp choices. if you take all options, "not eligible" will appear. when you click on trapping, since there are no other options for trapping, it will be in your cart, and "not eligible" will appear. go to "your cart" at any time to see your choices and/or to check out. I think some other phase should be used instead of "not eligible". can be a bit confusing.

It was easy once you told me how to do it. Suggestion for DEC folks. Instructions would make a big difference.

I have several lifetime license privileges and have not yet received my stuff in the mail, but I'm not going to worry for a few weeks. In the past I called DEC License Sales directly with good results. Their number during business hours is 518-402-8845.

Dear Friends, I am by no means a computer genius. I went on the DEC site and within a matter of a few minutes had all my info punched in, selections made, and transaction completed easy as you please. This was my first time and first attempt for online purchasing of trapping, hunting and DMP licenses. I for one am completely satisfied and will have no problem with avoiding the hassles inherent with chasing down store clerks, waiting in lines, or for store computer system glitches. Regards

I called the decals system on second day. Computers down. Finally in evening was able to purchase hunting, fishing licenses, and party permit. Told that computer would not allow purchase of trapping license. So much for the new improved system! Situation normal.
Disgusted in Queensbury!
