Okay, so I finally got some small income coming in for a short time and (hopefully) I'll be able to buy a PVC bow plus some arrows and maybe targets within the next 2-3 weeks, all to practice for hunting season so I can maybe go bow hunting this year (provided I manage to get my drivers and hunting license by my birthday). PVC bows work really well and are a bit more durable than wooden bows for the price, so until I get $500+ for a custom wooden bow I'm going to stick with PVC.
That being said, I do have a dilemma. A few years ago, there were classes (hunting/bow hunting) offered within the city (NYC) that I could get to. But I was only 16 then and my parents wouldn't let me go because I was 16 and didn't have anyone to go with me. But I'm 20 now, and can go pretty much anywhere in the city. Except to sportsmen classes, which are all unavailable or out of my transportation distance (I'm limited about 15-30 minutes beyond the city limits, and a bit further going into Long Island). The last time I asked the DEC about this, I was told to find at least 10 people to attend a class with me. I know of no one in this city who would join me for a class, since everyone besides my brother and boyfriend who would both join out of obligation are...just not sportsmen (they aren't either, but that's a different story). So yeah, I'm alone here.
Does anyone know of a solution/place I could try getting to where classes are available? Or am I stuck waiting another year for a chance to hunt?
Thanks for any help,
Jackie
