It looks like there is one good red blooded american boy left. Congratulations! And as a bonus to you, he's likely to land a great job and will be able to finally afford his own hunting and trapping gear and you can turn the tables on him and borrow all his stuff.

Congrats to both the Grad and the Dad. It takes a man a lifetime to share his world with another and when the other shares in the world, that is a great lifetime. You deserve the pride well earned.

Awesome Lonny! You have so much to be proud of. I'll look forward to still seeing you both showing up together at trapping functions, along with that old guy you drag along with you Sorry, Randy, I had to do it.

He is a worker at everything he does. Selected captain for baseball and football. All league center for football, playing the line and only weighing 170 pounds. Named defensive MVP for leading his team in tackles and being in the top 10 for the league. Broke his wrist on the 2nd to last game of the season and would not be replaced. He learned to snap the ball left handed and finished the season.
All league catcher in baseball. Set a school record for throwing out the most runners trying to steal in a season. Only sat out a total of 3 innings over 18 games. And that is because he took himself out because is knees hurt so bad he could barely walk. Usually by the 4th inning he could hardly walk to to dugout.
But despite the broken wrist and the torn knees, he never once complained. Usually the last one off the field because he would be picking up equipment or raking the field. His football coach told him he wanted him to be a vocal leader. Anybody that knows Cody knows he does not say too many words. He told the coach to tell the other players to watch his lead and do what he does. And thats what he did.
He was named the schools workhorse and the toughest player these coaches have ever coached. He was selected to represent his BOCES welding clas in a regional competition for welding. He was also selected by NY coaches to play on the NYS football team and to represent NY. To have these accomplishments and to get appraisal from his coaches, peers, and coaches around the league for his OLD SCHOOL work ethics makes me feel I did something right.

Great pics....congrats to you both. Sounds like one hell of a tough kid with a strong work ethic...which he obviously got from someone.

Job well done by all of your family involved... from the grandparents on down thru parents to Cody. My one concern is that he might dedicate himself in the same manner to trapping muskrats across western NY

Well, you've properly pickled him in the right stuff for the time required, the rest is now up to him but I am certain he'll carry on just fine... or as it's more properly said, you've "trained up the child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it." Well done. As in job well done, and that you've cooked him just right lol... Act One for him is now over, and Act Two for you as well. Both have prepared you for Act Three: "The Tales Of Grampahood." Coming to a theater near you, soon enough. And that's where the depth comes in... All our best to you and yours!
