lol... maybe they're only interested in new/younger trapper's thoughts? "The Future of Trapping," maybe? lol... I have to wonder. Same thing happened to me, roughly the same timeframe. I skipped a year or so, and then - >BAM< - just like Emeril would say.

Mark, the DEC will not allow us to have the list of licensed trappers in NY. ...............................................................................................
a way for nysta to get names, email addresses and regular addresses if the state wont allow us to have their list... is at the conventions when people with ny license tags on their car or trucks come through the admission gate have them fill out a pre...prepared short form.. for name,e-mail and address, for each person in the car from ny... to allow nysta to make emergency contacts, .. imagine a whole bunch that come through the gate that don't belong to nysta, but take trapping serious enough to travel all that way to the convention to buy gear and attend demos... and the ones that belong to nysta... at least you'll have their e-mail address, if they give it...
taking an extra 30-45 seconds for a good emergency e-mail contact list may be worth the hassle for everyone envolved... hand them out at the first gate, tell them what it is for... let them turn them and their pencil in at the second gate, before getting through to park... just a thought for collecting some information, maybe? ... jim

This is what bob is trying to work on but a lot of fokes dont wont to give it up bob and other's have tryed to get this info but I think that is one hell of a idea hope every one gets on this band wagon it can save us all from anti trappers taking this sport we all love What to do about trappers who try to take away or limit other trappers? In 2011 0r 2012 in the spring I was sent a survey from the DEC stating they had received complaints or concerns from a small group of trappers who were mistakenly concerned with the length of the spring water season.I dont know if it was just for 4 O or a bigger area , I havnt seen any changes yet. Town highways and the DEC will be busy this year with the beaver.I have little interest in trapping fisher but have great interest in the restrictions that will come with them. What are they willing to give up for 1 unprime fisher ?What if the 3 year re-evaluation never occurs and there kids 20 years from now are still waiting for it ? Look no farther than otter .There plan doesnt say what they will do if the population drops in the expansion areas and it seems they have allready added trap restrictions as they see fit.Added trapper outreach would be great if it is channeled but one must never forget the infamous list of 13 and the far reaching effect. Yes Bob S has been a great help on answering tough ,sticky questions and to look farther ahead.

It's not that they don't give up, it has been shown that the best way to get the most returns of surveys is to send at least 2 follow-up reminders (and a phone call, if possible) after sending the original. Everyone who uses mailed surveys uses this format to get the most responses. I get a USFWS survey every few years asking about migratory bird hunting and they send multiple follow-ups, it's not just Cornell or the DEC.

Man they dont give up I got #3 now I filed it with the last two ..... burn box i got 4 last year (none of which were sent out) along with reminders to the point of being a bit dis respectful on their part, however they didnt bother to send any this year as they obviously got the message that i would not participate in their persuasively loaded and purposely agenda'd surveys with their little attempt at the "jedi mind trick" via multiple choice questions
