Thanks for looking. I am a geologist working on a project in Danube; over the past 7 years, I perform an annual inspection of a monitoring well network associated with a former cocaine “manufacturing facility” (a gang from South America bought a farm in a very beautiful remote area and starting producing their product; over the course of a year that they were in business they managed to contaminate over 400 acres of groundwater. They are now out of jail and we are still cleaning up there mess). I plan to visit the site late next week but will postpone until later in the month if there is a snow pack. I recently ruptured my Achilles tendon and, following some painful surgery, I now have a leg cast that extends to my butt cheek that will be with me for the next 6 weeks (then will be cut below my knee for another 6 week, etc.)... I cannot hike in the snow with this cast but could get around enough to perform my inspection if there was no snow (I put ski-pole baskets on the bottom of my crutches so they don’t sink into the mud).
Thanks, Dino

I'm northwest of Herkimer, but if your going to be in the Mohawk Valley near Herkimer I'll bet there's still going to be snow there next week ? If your area is north of Herkimer I'll guarantee a foot or two of snow left next week.

What part of the little falls/newville area? I recall a coke farm on johnnycake rd back 20 yrs ago. I now live about 2 miles from that. Yes so fields still have a foot or so with hedgerows having 4 to 5 ft drifts extending from them

That's exactly right trapperred315...Johnny Cake Road Farm Site in the town of Danube. Would you mind if I pinged you next week to check on the status of the snow pack? Do you work for a surveying company by chance? One of the surveyors I worked with in the past lived a couple miles away from the site...not too many houses in the area within a couple mile radius.
Thanks, Dino

dino I do not know about the snow pack but I do know very well about a ruptured Achilles. On Oct.20 of this past year my heel fractured with the tendon attached. had the surgery as you had and was in a cast for only 6 weeks. I can tell you that now at just over 5 months I am walking fairly well with no pain but a bit of stiffness due to slight swelling. Pyhsical therapy helped a lot for me. I hope you heal well and get back on your feet soon.
