Come on down......I just saw two live rats in the ditches by my office today! But this cannot be yet ANOTHER one of your pre-planned, huge-numbers, better-watch-out, escapades or I will leave you at the alter!

One season does not a career make! MZ when it comes to muskrats? go ahead and pick any year or decade of your choice <grin> fwiw... at least one muskrat trapper out there feels that I caught too many from his (WMA) spot. Last time we met, he wouldn't speak to me and barely even looked at me when I tried to talk. ceste

Do you blame him??? Since you opened THAT Pandora's Box, I am sure others would love to chime in! I will pick the decade you took off from this game.....which one was that? The one with woefully low fur prices.....though I guess that could be two or three of them............ 700 rats is great around here...but not AS great when your goal is 2000 plus. That's 35%........its all the pre-hype and pre-billing that you then have to live up to! If you didn't tell us of your plans, we'd have thought you knocked it out of the park! You leave yourself wide open for Walleyed, AJ, and me to pick on you! Which, again, you do take VERY well........which I commend. There's mean, vindictive banter and the other kind of chop-bustin'.........though many a truth has been said in jest! I've heard it for decades now.....that I live in this puny little world of crazy coyote numbers, unparalleled any where else in the state....even within 10 miles of me there's not as many coyotes as I have. Ever watch the wildebeast migration in Africa.....that happens with coyotes right through Cazenovia NY! It's self-defense! MZ

Zagman has often been heard yelling "It's coming right for me!!!" as he throws traps on the ground to stem the flood of coyotes crashing against his truck.
Its self defense really. True story.

zagmanDo you blame him??? => "blame" ain;t the right word. I'm referring to some guy disparaging me to others about trapping a public WMA unit. If what went on last year was upsetting to him, next season will be 10x that. Since you opened THAT Pandora's Box, I am sure others would love to chime in! => wtf else is new? I will pick the decade you took off from this game.....which one was that? the one with woefully low fur prices.....though I guess that could be two or three of them............ => lol! listen to me Mark... since I turned 8 years old, there were only two trapping seasons in my life I did not set steel in NYS. Both winters when I lived in Colorado. Other than that, there were no years off. Why would you assume such nonsense? 700 rats is great around here...but not AS great when your goal is 2000 plus. That's 35%........its all the pre-hype and pre-billing that you then have to live up to! If you didn't tell us of your plans, we'd have thought you knocked it out of the park! You leave yourself wide open for Walleyed, AJ, and me to pick on you! => well, the only mistake I made was letting myself get sucked into conversation threads that start with, "Hey Austin, what's going on this year" and s(***) like that. It seems you learned not to discuss numbers in public this year... I'm one year behind you in that lesson. Next season onward, all there will be are tailgate piled catches. no numbers. Secondly, my objective as 1,000 straight out or 2,000 if I secured a property right around the corner from you, which didn't happen. As stated clearly way back then, without that big chunk of Oneida Lake region wetland, I'd be lucky to do 1,000. If it hadn't been for the coldest Feb in recorded history that still lingers now, 1,000+ was easily within reach. But that's neither here nor there, because numbers overall don't really mean s(***) when you stop and really think about it. Which, again, you do take VERY well........which I commend.
There's mean, vindictive banter and the other kind of chop-bustin'.........though many a truth has been said in jest! => I take good natured banter very well... I don't take personal insults too good though. I prefer to discuss those in person, face to face MZAP

Hmm...sounds like somebody "carpet bombed" their traps on top of somebody else's rat site...just guessing here, trying to read between the lines.

Upload picture to photo bucket, open picture, clicking bottom link on right hand margin next to picture (says forum/message board) will temporarily say "copied" in a pop up. In post here on forum, in text area of post, right click and choose paste.

I hope you too don't fall victim to the assumptiveitis disease that plagues too many other message board posters :/

Not in the least Austin. You're local, I'd punch someone in the face just for saying something disparaging about a Naples local. Everyone in Naples gets one no questions asked favor. Ive got a tarp and a shovel. We're using your truck though....

Ive got a tarp and a shovel. We're using your truck though.... I'd much prefer we let this thread return to its topic of who is still trapping and enjoy the pictures that active trappers are sharing. Let's all focus on that, and leave the never-ending soap opera stuff amongst trappers lay idle. If I see you on the creek tomorrow, ask me for details if you're interested then

Thanks' K9. Here's what we have to deal with in my area. still have yet to see any sign of a beaver. unfortunately, that's what keeps the "spring shuffle" from commencing. Local critters are all there is to work with, no travelers yet until the still waters start to open in earnest. But at least you have catches to enjoy!

Does anyone else find many rats with a white tip on their tail? There's a lake by me where 90% of the rats have white tipped tails. just wondered how common it was. This one came out of the river by that lake.

Well, not what I heard......and enough with the name calling Austin, thought you were bigger than that....you always resort to name calling. first of all, you didn't hear anything. What I'm talking about happened hundreds of miles from you with people you don't even know. secondly, why would you voice an opinion at all, and why would that opinion assume I was in the wrong? why instead didn't you say something like, "WMA land is wide open to all with equal rights. if someone has a problem with that Austin, they are obviously in the wrong" lastly, I didn't call you names... that is a label. Almost all of your posts in here for the past year or three have been directed at me, negatively. Other than that, no one ever hears from you much at all. Why is that?

This one came out of the river by that lake. I have been told it is genetic and also told it comes with age. I have noticed most of the rats I catch with tipped tails are big ones, but not all of them. Once in awhile, some have whitish feet, too. My guess is genetics but would like to hear the facts from a biologist.

What's going on with the United trappers org Austin. Over on the brown site there saying that you took there 20 bucks and ran with it. I'm not saying you did I just wanted to know what's going on with it. Is it working out? I'm sure you would of posted something about it, but since you got banned from trapperman you can't defend your self or report. I just was wondering how it was coming. Thanks
