But we had a Blast anyways !!!!!!!! ...Thought that this year would be the year that all the stars aligned and it would be our year....Starting into a Season as a newly appointed Self Employed man, I had high hopes of all this free time to put to the trapline. I quickly learned that was not the case. Work came first and I had a ton of it !!! By the time deer season was over and it was time to ramp up again I got slammed even harder, which in the long run was great for my business but sure kicked the snot out of our trapline. Finally got the line up and things were clickin', started to think we might pull out a half way decent season with the late season......and then Mama Nature spoke....and spoke......and then the B@tch just plain wouldn't shut up !!!!!! You gents know what Im talking about, It was one rough @ss Late Season...felt like I lived up north with Coop and the Mattison Clan !!!!! For us it has never been about a huge numbers thing, we go out we have a Blast doin it and just love takin' the kiddos along to share the adventure, have never aspired to be a Mark Zagger ( Sorry Mark no offense ) or put up some huge numbers, our ultimate goal has been to get to where we catch 30 to 50 K9s a season. Perfectly attainable and we know it, just gonna have to keep chugging along and work on getting everything in our program alittle better. Been talking about it for the past week as we fondled the furs prepping them for sale today. Gonna make some adjustments to our program again and start beating the pavement as soon as warm weather hits working up more farms. We live in an area that is being taken over by a Dairy Empire, sucking up all the Mom and Pop farms making land access tough on us, but we have decided we will just have to work harder at it and see about new grounds to add. Now comes the long 200 and some odd days until we can do it again. Only thing that will pull me through it is the conventions and Renovation work we have planned for the Furshed. Plans are in action to open our roof and add a Cupola so that we can come up with the room for a winch, Darn NYREDFOX spoiled me at his skinning party this year and it has become a must !!.......So before I end this ramblings, I must throw out a shout out for Mr.Mark Boardman...Sir, Thank you once again, I truly look forward to getting a chance to talk with you the most about these fur sales, although the fur check is sure a close second !! Honestly though Thank you Mark, not sure I have ever met a more down to earth man than yourself. You know you are blessed when your Fur buyer is also one of your closest Trapping Buddies !! Until next Season Gents....Stay safe !!!!!!

Wondered if you Two weathered the blizzard! Not a bad season at all considering the career change. It was just a couple years ago when you were looking for help with those yotes... Now your just playing around and catching them in quantity..... Great work. I'm sure once you get the time, you will be looking for a bigger barn for the money shot!!!
See ya this summer......

Well done guys!! Those are some good looking canine. The greys are big!! We dont get many, if any, down my way. I love seeing them. I'd offer to buy them but you're probably already off to the sale. Congratulations on a great season.

Ma Nature was a royal b****h this year, wasn't she.....I always say, if we don't get our canines early, we don't get them. This year, that played out across the state vs. just the traditional snow belt areas.
As my Dad used to say, regarding your "disappointment" in your catch vs. what you THOUGHT you might get...."Did you try your best?" That's all you can hope for.....
Regarding NUMBERS.....not everyone has that motivation or opportunity or desire.....I DO think one should strive for constant improvement, and adopting the M.O. of trying to better than last year. You guys certainly embody that premise.... an Still, no matter how well you plan and strive for improvement, things out of your control WILL pop up....for me, over the last seven years, I've gone up every year except two of them.....one had me losing my truck on day 15 and ending my vacation line....and the other was two years ago when the canine population, for the first time I can remember, dropped substantially. This year it could be weather, illness/injury, heck...who knows?
That's why I take barn pics in the first place....there will be a time when I won't be hitting these numbers or be physically able to....and I can look back from the rocking chair to a better time and place.
As will you!
Congrats!

I meet many many trappers doing as many shows as we do and I have always said you guys truly are what the sport needs, more people like you. Determination and a spirit to keep going no matter what and do it for the love of the game. Great job guys!

Congrats! given your circumstances you guys had a great year all around! To add some to what mark was saying, Dwight Eisenhower once said, "In preparing for battle, I have always found that plans are useless but planning is indispensable.”
No matter what you're ready for or think you're ready for something or someone will throw a curve ball at you, leaving you speechless. You guys having the ability to adapt to your situation and overcome some of the struggles shows your determination and perservearance. K9's should be running scared next year!
Look forward to seeing you guys this summer.

Congrats on some great looking fur. I enjoyed reading about your season. I can fully relate to it. Many a year out-of-town work with my surveying job has caused me to pull traps after a week or so. But you gotta do what you gotta do to make a living. I always go with the thought that a little trapping (as much as that can suck) is still way better than no trapping at all. Good luck with next season, here's to hoping that we all get to set more steel next season. Again, congrats on your season.

Oak I've been very busy ,trying to keep checking in here when I can, I didn't get much time on the line this season but what little time I got was good,I keep pestering my boy to help me load some pics but seeing as he works with me,he has the same time shortage as me.. Now that the wethers starting to break things should start to level off and free up some time for us..hopefully get a few pics up then.
