Not for nothing, but did you notice one of the pictures is from Vermont, why couldn't we use a NY trapper?

just a thought and i may be way off on this, but would it be more effective if a "draft" was generated from some of our fellow trappers (and forum members) who are well educated on the whole spectrum (i have read some well thought out, and effectively communicated counter comments on this plan) and turn it into a petition (if you will) and have all trappers that concur endorse and send as one, in an effort to get the trapping communities thoughts organized as a group, or one voice TOGETHER, as apposed to a plethora of random comments some well thought out, others maybe not so much, flooding the site, i dont know, hoping someone whos more familiar with the political semantics can clarify as to the effectiveness of random comments compared to a "one voice for all" approach

The way the process works is all comments that are received during the comment period are read and considered by the DEC. Anything that is deemed a "form letter" such as what many anti groups do, only count as one letter rather than individual comments. Individual comments will carry MUCH more weight than a "form letter" approach when the DEC reviews what has been submitted on the proposal.

I don't think it would hurt to draft a petition as well. Everyone should still send in their own response to the plan, but a few thousand signatures on a petition could't hurt either. Signatures could be asked for at fur sales around the state and turned in even after the comment period is over.

An online petition could be stated as well

if someone could make a list of some of the key bullet points to hit on to avoid the form letter that would be great.

Those bullet points are coming very soon. Pettions and form letters are not a god idea. Your comments need not be long. A short, polite E-Mail or letter is what is most affective
