Isn't there a NAFA sale going on up there in Canada soon? Who all shipped what and sold for how much?
Walleyed would like to know if he can finally afford a new $249 laptop from WalMart that lets him connect to us all here in the state board from coon furs sold.

I think what sold was stuff from last year, it was for me anyhow. I received 14 for a coyote and a $6.00 avg on opposum. The first pick up was justa week or so back so I dont know how you get new stuff on this January's sale.

I don't think it was all holdover stuff... the western pale coyotes did terrific and they were fresh. Red fox that sold were this season's too, from what I understand. Probably lots of coon held over but that's going to be an issue for years to come. Russia is broke, Greece is even more broke than that and any furs depending on those two nations for production is hurtin' for certain for awhile.

He sold all his beaver.

A lot of fur was left over. First pickup for the year was Jan. 9-12 around upstate NY. The had 280,000 coons. Only 80,000 were fresh. 47,000 yotes 14,000 fresh. 13,000 fox 6,000fresh. 43,000 beaver 20,000 fresh. Rats was the only fur not held over at all 187,000 all fresh. Coons sure are taking a beating. NAFA is trying to hold the price up and no fire sale yet.

NAFA is doing a fine job of working the prices best they can. But the problem is a huge glut of coon with no demand at all. There will end up being "fire sales" on coon, eastern coyotes, low-grade beaver, stale cats and otter, commercial muskrats, and other stuff. Good grades fox, muskrats, beaver, pale coyotes still have solid demand. But we're back to the same select fur markets from several years ago. Russia as a nation is broke, Greece is beyond broke and the Euro has lost 30% value against the USD. That is no different than marking up anything we buy with our dollars from them now 30% higher. The world is upside down with currency wars right now, and various countries are going belly up financially. The glut of coon, low grade beaver and low grade coyotes will take years to clear. Those three items can be produced in over-abundance at will, and right now they are exactly that

I have heard many times that we need a cold winter to sell fur. Well what we need is money to buy furs. The rich in the Orient are buying smuggled in Ivory not furs.

The man is down and out do to a physical injury and your throwing stones at him. Mercy, you should be donating your muskrats to his cause.

Bob had enough deer hides given to him for free to purchase a nice, new laptop from WalMart that would usher him into the 21st century. With that he could even setup his very own FaceBook account, too. This place ain't the same without him... he abandoned his NY brethren in here!

I just figured the overall average of ALL Eastern muskrats sold at this NAFA sale. 161,586 eastern muskrats sold for a total dollar amount of $852,878.00 making the overall average for eastern muskrats $5.28 BEFORE commissions. These numbers and computations come directly from the marked catalog.
