Pulled my rat traps. Water had come up a foot and was still rising. I will re-set when things settle down.

i hear this works pretty darn good^^^^^^^^ and you cant catch fur with the traps sitting in the shed...

There is still plenty to be caught. In my college years I would return home to trap from mid Dec till first week of January and made some decent catches. I would prefer that the ground be frozen solid but they are flooded, nothing you can do about it, try to set high dry spots in the future. Try pooking holes in the bed with rebar to let water drain from your beds and bait hole.

the problem is when i put my traps out the ground and area was dry. it has been snow, thaw, rain, snow, thaw. spots are flooding that shouldn't. hmmmm....gonna try using wax dirt on top and also the holes. gonna look into pipe set.

The ground here is starting to freeze on top, any wet trap cover will froze in the am.

My sets are very workable in this messy weather using the Pipedream bedding system. Only problem is nothing will commit. People have dumped deer where I am trapping and I see all kinds of grey fox and yote tracks, but nothing will commit. Using gland and urine.

well i have to say...the fur gods were on my side today. went and checked my sets and had a nice red in one. made me a very happy guy. the two reds i caught were females. males don't want to play. but i'm guess trapping is like everything else in life. if there is ladies around men will follow. well i at least hope that is the case.

This coyote was caught 3 days ago. The trap had been in the ground 16 days..At one point it was buried under 2 feet of snow. Peat moss in a well drained bed will hold up to almost anything.
