...who aren't buried in snow. Do you think that the 2.5 days of weather between 40 and 60 degrees that they are calling for over the weekend will be enough to open up the marshes by 11/25? I'm anxiously awaiting the possibility of a few days of open water.

depends. Still waters? Probably not. Moving waters? To some degree.
This is going to be one of the toughest opens in recent memory. I have no idea where I'm going to set, or what type of traps/sets until Monday night

I feel the same way, unsure of where I'll be able to set. Have to see what things look like on Monday afternoon. At least once sets are in they shouldn't be freezing up for a few days.

Depending on what melts and where other trappers are, I might set moving waters with #160s in channels, or slow moving creeks with #1.5 coils and pocket sets, or still waters with #150s in bank holes and house runs along with #1.5 coils on feed beds and toilets. Or some combination of all the above. By sunset on Monday after looking over choices in four different counties all day, I'll have a plan

LOL!!! I've been watching things on here instead of paying attention to the Reg's!!! I keep thinking that Nov. 25 is THE opener, but... oops...!!! I just read my Reg's, and, um ... My unit opened Nov. 10th!!!! GAH!!!! Time to set...time to set...time to set... NOW!!! GAHH!!! idjit idjit idjit IDJIT!!!
Then again, with all that's gone on with my Dad and family and the aftermath of his passing, I only have a handful of raccoon sets out close enough to the barn to check by looking, and a couple of haysets in the garden. Those were just put out last week, nothing yet. But it keeps me in the groove for now, until I can get out and get anything serious done.

Drove by two spots this morning, they look ice free. Got one more spot to look at after work.
Good luck to everyone tomorrow! Be safe!

Most of the ice is gone here as well. Got a call a while back from a guy who owns a campground. There is a small 2 or 3 acre pond on the property with the usuall caved in banks and smokin holes. Looks like I will set that up first. Three other properties are golf courses. Looks like I'm gonna be beat tomorrow night. Truck is all loaded up and we are ready to rock and roll in the AM. Good luck to all and be safe.
