I was talking to my neighbor and he was in the Belleville area waterfowl hunting last week and he claims there were traps set around where his blind was. I can only hope it was damage control work. But i doubt it, why would anyone do adc work now when the season opens so soon? He was kinda peeved because there should not have been traps there and with the dogs it can be troublesome.

I did report it, third party and all, online. I tried to reply earlier and it didn't show up? Huh, wonder where I sent it to?

There are ongoing beaver nuisance trapping operations ongoing all over the state by farmers, landowners, and town highway departments..
Farmers who need to harvest crops, plant, plow, or disc fields for fall plantings who don't rely on a trapping season calendar, or fur primeness schedule.
did the un-named duck hunter have permission to be where he was. did he disturb the traps in any way ?
did he report the situation to the Landowner ?
did he really have a blind or permanent structure that was there before the trapping operation ?
just what was this duck hunter buddy's name anyhow ?
inquiring minds WANT to KNOW.

Mr. Walleyed is entirely correct. Throughout the year nuisance wildlife managers respond to human/wildlife conflicts. Those conflicts are often resolved by removing the destructive critter(s) and in most all cases these operations are conducted legally with appropriate permits, etc. When a complaint is registered with a wildlife manager the landowner expects immediate help and relief from the problem. They do not care what month of the year it is or even what day of the week. They want the problem to end - NOW.
It is always amusing to me when it is found out that a "trespasser" thinks he/she has found something going on that is illegal. It is annoying when the "trespasser" tampers with the equipment that is deemed by the "trespasser" to be illegally deployed. It thoroughly pisses me off when someone steals the equipment. Both types should be prosecuted if caught.
On the flip side, if someone found traps that they honestly thought were illegally set, they should be reported - but NOT TAMPERED WITH.

I have lost a few traps while doing a permitted ADC job. Not fun.if you have questions definitely have it checked out. A few questions by an official is what I would expect when trapping by permit not thieft.
