I think if I remember correctly, Austin's already drowned once. He is not afraid that is true... I was pronounced dead by the Livingston County coroner at 9 years old by drowning. Although I'd like to avoid a repeat of that if possible, it was a painless death the main concern after I was revived, being without oxygen to the brain for so long that there would be some sort of mental damage. Luckily... that's not the case, as you can all see how I turned out since! Austin there had to have been some brain damage, Your a trapper arent ya.

Austin, any chance I might tag along for a day or two at Monti? There's no way I could ever keep up that kind of pace for any length of time but it would be fun to try for a day or two. that would be fun and I would certainly enjoy the company, but not sure what the regulations permit. I know that Ethan and I can access each other's units for trapping specifically, but any other use and anyone else might be subject to different rules. The areas trapped are not wide open to public access. Let me check on that with the biologist and see.

AJ, don't toss the towel on a decent showing for incidental canines this season. Just spent a couple hours touring my unit at Montezuma... the fox and coyote scat is pretty thick there. Nice gravel roads on the dikes, bordering the Seneca River right where it meets I-90 Thruway for a junction of two major travelways in the shuffle. I don't want to use too much valuable water time on land sets, but there are some major canine crossing locations we simply cannot left go unset

Austin,
I heard you might have to go consult with the federal reserve on the current stock market conditions. Hope this does not cut into your muskrat time!!

thru the next ten years we are all going to witness some unbelievable things. But one of those will not be a repeat of the past four years in stock-market performance. that will never be repeated.

I know that the financial markets are a complete mess, there is no liquidity to slow down computer programs slamming both directions, all over the place. It is not good, on a fundamental basis. If the stock market crashes before April 2015, and that is a distinct possibility, I might have to take my muskrat catch (1 to 2,000+) and have products made like we did when they sold for $3 tops, circa 2004

Go get em Austin.
I can't speak to the popilation of rats in NY but here with an April 15 close 2000 would be a foregone conclusion as long as one had the free time. 5 to 7000 would be.more in order.
I know NY ain't MN but I think you can do it.
3 dollar NY rat would make mine 2.00. I'd fill the freezer for years.

We have too many rat trappers and too few locations for 5 - 7,000 season catches here... nobody can tie up enough high-population areas for that. In my case, the season results hinge on whether I gain access to a private wetlands network or not, will find out here soon what the answer is. If so, very solid potential for 2,000 or more but if not, more like up to 1,000 potential instead.
Those type of private flows permissions with lots of rats are extremely tough to find, been working on this one for awhile. Now I await the results of decision makers for access or not :>/

Good luck man.
We are fortunate here we have a tremendous amount of water.
