Hey everyone, Hey guys / gals looking to see what everyone is excited to talk about for this season and trap line. Anything from new boots, knives, traps, all the way to mink boxes that fit perfectly on your new 1986 big red three wheeler that you made an awesome crate to carry everything on. phhhew .... I personally am excited try and make some mink boxes with a bunch of fence boards i got cheap at the home depot. I also added a few 110's and a 99 toyota tacoma truck which is much better on gass than the ram 1500. The real project still in the works is insulating and putting a new floor in the new/ old old old fur shed 14'X8' with a nice half attic. Well everyone the dirt dry and sifted in their buckets, traps are almost ready, and the truck is running fine (knock on wood) let the season begin this year is the year. I hope everyone has some highlights in their season if so please share them here because reading about them is one of mine, thank you all and have a great year.
Wait I forgot to scout a few farms.....

Bought some mb550's and some bridger #2's for fox and coyote Put step down pit pans on the Bridgers Put some trip wire on some conibears Put a pan on a couple conibears to try that Got some coon daggers to try out for coon Bought a couple each of 120, 155 and 160 conibears since all i had were 110's Got some buckwheat hulls and peat moss, never used either for bedding before Got a new skinning knife Put some wild river pans on a dozen old victor #2's for mink Bunch of lures and a couple baits i have never used before
That might not be all, but it's all i can think of at the moment.....

Well let's see, I have a new pack basket that will see service this season, I picked up some Bridger #2 dog less and some MB450s that I am excited to use. Picked up another half dozen dog proofs that will add to the total. Traded several body grips for a half dozen #11 long spring that will see action for raccoon and mink in creek bottoms once mink opens up. I am sure there is more I am not thinking about but you guys get the idea. Good luck to everyone this season.

You can never have enough dog proofs it seems! But that means more stakes to buy! I forgot about the smoking deal I came across in little valley I purchased a 20 PVC coated work gloves I think will be perfect for land trapping. They are the ones without the elastic on the wrists.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who has been watching re-run after re-run of all the trapping videos I own. I will have to put up a picture if the white coon we got last year in his new full Body mount under the WNY photo thread. The sharing of info and working together will only help this community.

EVERYTHING, we just purchased our first home in may. I dont know about everyone else but it seems like theres never enough hours in a day. Between work, family ,our home and my other outdoor pasions my prep time has really been cut down. I forgot how many miles and hours went into building a new long line from scratch. Im chiping away at it allthough as frustrating as it can be its also very ecxiting! New ground, locations& building relations with land owners will be fun. Fur seems to be plentiful and I can barely wait for opening day!! WISHING EVERYONE HAPPY TRAILS AND TIGHT CHAINS THIS SEASON,JUSTIN

added a few 160s for cubbies trying a few BMI 1.75s, hoping they hold the yotes good enough without much damage to reds and coons and anything else that finds their way into them trying berkshire cable stakes, just got done making trap setters for the 160s, perhaps I can set them better with 1 arm still in a sling repurposed a busted crowbar into a dirthole maker and also for pulling stakes

Thanks oak, now I have to lay off the potatoe chips. Probably catch a few more critters this year too because I no longer smell like an ash tray. I sure can smell a ciggy a mile away.

Thanks oak, now I have to lay off the potatoe chips. Probably catch a few more critters this year too because I no longer smell like an ash tray. I sure can smell a ciggy a mile away. LMAO God is my witness... I had never been able to smell a wounded deer while tracking when I smoked, since I quit there have been various occasions when I could smell the wounded deer well before I got to the downed deer.....3 or 4 years ago I shot an 8 point and he took off, 30 minutes later I climbed down from the tree stand and the minute my feet hit the ground I said "that's a dead deer" I could smell the whole chest cavity, stale air stench....50 yards over the knob laid my 8 point in a heap...........Amazing the sense of smell I gained back !!......Now on the other hand with your Chip frenzy, you may just have to work that to your advantage....I seem to remember a post about layin down a trail of Doritos or Fritos or Cheese Nips or something
