Played around with Zags pipe set last year using what I think they call hardware cloth. I tried window screen and didn't care for it,so I tried this hardware screen it worked a lot better. So this year I purchased dogless bridgers and this is how I use them. Attachment Deleted

When you told me about this UNDER the pan, I sorta cringed....
But, as a perfect example of me assuming something wrongly without trying it, you say it works!
I'm not sure if I'd want to cut hundreds of those, though.....as much as I hate cutting conventional trap pan cover screens....

MZ ... just think about how many relaxing hours you could spend in the shop, cutting hundreds of pan covers while keeping beat to those Taylor Swift tunes ** I've orders a couple dozen of these traps to test out myself... looked pretty good hands-on at Herkimer. If anything, inside lams wouldn't hurt for fox.

never mind i figured it out--simple fix--the bottom plate for the pan/bolt wasnt flush with the end of the crossframe--losened the nut made them flush and presto a flat even pan.

Sorry trap glad you figured it out I have 3 out of 3 dozen that didn't sit flat. I laid them to the side to figure out later. Funny thing is those three came from the same doz.

MZ Its a little time consuming Zag took 3 miller lites to do three dozen lol. Still have a dozen I made last year for the dozen bridger dog-on. Nice part about them is after a catch there easy to flatten back out.

Could you wax that screen in such a way dirt would not pass through it?

I fail to see how that works as a trap "pan cover". It would seem to me that there is still the likelihood of interference with the trap pan as stones, washed in and then frozen dirt can still build underneath the pan...no? Unless I'm missing something?

I only use it this way when using grass or hay as a covering,in Zags pipe set remember the trap will be sorta suspended of the ground

No I haven't this will be my seconded year trying the pipe set. Had a little success last year was even was doing it wrong but MZ set me straight at Fenner. Now I cant wait to try it the right way. Was told that Lowes was selling a window and door screen that was heavy duty its called New York Heavy Aluminum Screen. Next time I get near a Lowes I will check it out.

What good does it do putting it under the pan?? All the screen does it holds up the grass clipping from falling thru and exposing the trap.
