The results of last year's bobcat harvest in the expansion area will be posted in the next "Traplines" newsletter. However, so that you don't have to wait until then 1719 Permits issued, 137 bobcats reported taken, 83% taken by trappers, 12% by hunters, 5% roadkills. Region 4F reported the highest take with 30 bobcats harvested. Only 75% of the log books were returned. Those who did not return their log books to the DEC could be ineligible for permits this year, however we were told the Department would take a soft approach on that this year. But not next year! If you obtain a permit and do not fill it out and return it this season, whether you harvest a bobcat or not, you will NOT get a permit the following season.

When Bureau of Wildlife gets around to posting the 2013 Harvest Data for "Lynx-Cat" (Bobcat), It will be Listed Here on The DEC Website: www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/93855.htmlSome Real Great, Interesting, and Eye-opening Data Statistics to be found in this Link. Especially the town by town breakdown in each county or WMU. Great Tool for scouting or planning your line. walleyed

Careful Rocky, Giving out That warning could skew the data. Actually, The DEC Bureau of Wildlife Getting a 75% Logbook return rate is a pretty darn good percentage, even though it is, By Regulation, Mandatory for those receiving a permit to do so. Your right though, anyone who received a permit should follow up and return the logbook so the DEC can have the Hard data they need to evaluate the season, in order to eventually expand the season using good, solid Science rather than have Our Bobcat managed by Politics or Hysterical Emotion. A logbook submitted by an Unsuccessful Bobcat Trapper or Hunter is as statistically valuable & Important, as one submitted by a successful Bobcat trapper. walleyed

That link is one I've looked at quite a few times! Town by town is what I like to see. It's at the bottom of that Link post by Year-to-Year. 2012-2013 is the latest year posted. If you click on that hyper-link you call up a PDF file which breaks the state down by county, and then by harvest in each township along with each counties total. w
