At least one of them had little ones, too, Lonnie. That's a shame. It is also the first time I've ever seen two hit at the same time like that.

I did notice it looked like one had little ones, but the smaller size and the fact both were females together led me to think they were young. Could be wrong. T what age do they breed and do females usually run together?

Lonnie, the fisher in the second pic looks like she's been nursing young. They are going to look very small at this time of year with no fur! They certainly are too big to be this year's young. An adult female at this time of year may not weigh more than 6 pounds. One of our guys caught one last week while doing rabies study work and it was no bigger than those in your pics. That one has been nursing as well and had young somewhere. At least we could return her to take care of those little ones!

Thanks John. Hopefully the young make it.

I've seen a number of adult and juvenile red fox along the roads all over, including right in the middle of village suburbs.
too many possums, also. Might be a scarcity of them come fall

Sad to see, especially one nursing young. On the bright side rarely do I see fisher road kills. They are not like skunks or coons, In my life I've only seen three that were run over.

They are my first. I did not catch a fisher around here last year, but when the snow was on I could see tracks.
