In selection a trapline dog, outside or breeding or breeds, what is preferred, Males or females?

I reckon you can use a female, I do know someone who uses a female Border Collie.

If you have a choice, I'd lean towards a male....but I'd take a female over nothing at all.......

I have taken my one female Tinker on the line a couple of times without ever working her, she did mark a couple of spots BUT in her mind hunting is what she was supposed to be doing. I do plan to work Annie a bit this year.

I'm not fond of owning males. I have a male and a female now and don't need any more. My female is more controllable and is gamey. we'll give it a shot
