Its time to start all the work needed to have a winning season. What should be done first? ? Lots of trappers have different ways on how to go about their trapline preparation. I was just wondering in which order some trappers do this? ?

Adjust all traps get to fire how I want them , then boil in the works to get off all old wax, then get all traps, earth anchors and rebar ready to boil in log wood die, boil all traps in die then get ready to wax. Then I get some cheap oil base paint from dollar store mix with coleman fuel and dip all body gripping traps, if my water traps andcanine traps are not too bad from last year all I do is rewax.in my spare time im making baits and going through old lures figuring out what I need . There is also getting trapping permissions and pre baiting old dirt holes and redoctering up scent post that I leaveout year round. Then conventions learning new stuff from people that know a lot more about trapping then myself. I hope this helps.

I go fishing and drink beer. October is still a long way off. I save all my fish scraps to make bait, and am going to give a chicken bait a try this year.( seeing as I have 50 of them going to the butcher this week. ) Next month will be a bit different....

I used chicken meat, feathers and rotten egg mixed together to catch 3 early season coyotes that were raiding a chicken house mulch pile on a neighboring farm. I thought I would give them a taste of what they were use too. It worked well but I would not use it everywhere on my line. My traps are washed and waiting to hit the boiler next month.
