Saw an old Johnny Thorpe ad mentioning a mink lure he produced that was a Glenn Rowe formula made from mink urine and tonquin. I've heard his name before but know nothing about the man. Any stories about him from members here? It is up to you older guys to not let the memories of those who influenced trapping fade away...
And New York is full of legends...that's for sure.

Sold fur to him at E. J. Daileys place on a Sunday afternoon. spring of 1970 Set up a table out in the yard. Really nice spring day. line of sellers, thirty deep or more, everyone had muskrats from a few to a lot. saw three young men with a pick up truck full. told me about 1500 rats. I was the only one there with any beaver. nobody ever saw one before.

I am E.J.'s grand-daughter. Glen Rowe was our fur buyer and was at the shop every Sunday.

I met Glen Rowe at Johnny Thorpe's place in Lake Vanare (Luzerne) in the late sixties. Glen was a well known fur buyer in northern New York and I understand that he was a very good mink trapper. I was fortunate to meet other well known trappers at Johnny's as well; a number were taking lessons from Thorpe.
