barns - you need lots of box traps or elevated DP's all the den tree areas you can locate as the coon stack up on each other and there can be multiples in there that will shock you , once they hole up they do not travel very far when they come out for some sun-
but my favorite is waiting for that 3 to 5 day warm up ,that comes after a long cold spell ,and usually lines up with the start of breeding season ,get set up ahead of the warm spell so when the weather breaks warm ,you are ready for them ,its not hard in good coon country to average 20 plus per day out of 60 to 70 sets, as for DP bait ,welches grape jelly is my favorite poured on a liquid smoke piece of hot dog speared on a duke trigger ,good soft freeze proof bait , stay away from honey type baits as they get extremely hard and messy to work with as they get so thick in cold weather they just wont pore,

surveyor: I am a predator hunter from the Cairo/Freehold area and would like to give my critters to someone close to where I live. I get a good number of coyotes, red and grey fox and raccoons every year. Most are taken with one well placed shot with a .17 HMR

osprey: used to foraging for fish carcasses along our beaches and tidal marshes. If you live and trap in a similar habitat, maybe include fish as part of your set!
