Hello gentlemen,
It's minifoxer again updating his meager 2012-2013 season.
Things are slowly wrapping up once again on my Pennsylvania trapline, and the time has come to take my annual photo of my small trapline catch before I ship the majority of my fur for NAFA's febuary sale.
In the photo is 33 reds, 11 coon and 9 mink. The photo is missing 2 reds (one from mange, the other released) 10 coon (still in the freezer) and 1 lonley muskrat (also "chilling" alongside the coon in the freezer) Which brings the catch to date to to 35 reds, 21 coon, 9 mink and 1 muskrat. And of course the usual skunks and possums I'd rather not deal with.
Not alot of fur, a bit of disapointment with my numbers and tons of competition to deal with...but dang it, i had fun this season! I'm still running and mantaining a small line of about 10 traps, on a couple locations that have yet to connect with anything recently. I snap these traps saturday as I will be heading up to VT for a few days of snowboarding. Upon arriving home, i will set out a few more sets for a week before I will call it a season due to the fur beginning to rub, and the females beginning to become impregnated.
Mink season ended sunday which is entirely to bad, as I landed 1 mink short of my pathedic goal of 10 Always next season right?
I'm dissapointed in my fox numbers to say the least, as I was hoping to break, or atleast hit my goal of 40 this season. Early in the season I was well ahead of said target, but when I switched to my late line, I was faced with fierce compeition, in which I lost a couple of my best locations in, and was subdued by either other trappers, smashed sets, or edjucated foxes that would show absolutley 0 interest in my sets, and wouldn't break a stride as they walked right by LOL.
Still a smidget of glimmering hope if I can manage to take 5 more reds off before the end of january!
Next season i will have my drivers license and i won't be AS restricted (hopefully if I can keep up with school and job!)
Maybe then I can catch one fourth of what Mike S does a season
Enough rambling now....enjoy the remander of your season trappers!!
