Thanks Von ! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone there. Hopefully I can make it earlier than 6 pm but the Pompey Fur Sale requires my attendance and that's on Saturday, too. Soooo there's no tellin'.................
Von, I'll give you a call when I leave Pompey so that you have an accurate ETA for anyone that calls inquiring.
I'll bring along a box full of Slim Pedersen's lures in case anyone needs any.
See y'all on Saturday !

is this event open to visitors who stop by with a bottle (or two) of wine in hand instead of fur, or will they be turned away?

Austin, there have been a few trappers there, at previous sales, that have been known to partake of a bit of beverage during the festivities. However, the buyer has to keep his head screwed on straight

lol! depending on how my afternoon goes, I'm going to be in Canandaigua around 5pm anyways. So it'd be fun to see some piles of fur and visit for a spell if there's room for one more trapper. I got a few spare bottles of Widmer wines racked up, not that anyone needs to drink it but will have a couple in hand if I can make my way out there tomorrow

I had a great time at Camp last night... was there for the better part of four hours total, didn't get home and crawl into bed until midnight. Von and John were probably asleep by then, unless they stayed up to skin & flesh a few furs The food was excellent, plenty of iced tea and vitamin water to go around. I saw a number of young men producing a lot of extremely well-handled furs. Looks like the days of us old guys are numbered... we got a lot of young trappers who are making some serious inroads to the fur around here. Great to see Highlight of the night was Rockwood paying a $16.75 average on rats. Makes me wish I went ahead and caught a few more ;>0 Overall I learned a ton of things about critters, people and trapping last night. The company was top-notch, the time flew past and I look forward to repeating the process in January. Thank you for having me and the time spent visiting, Von & John!

16.75 ave on rats? Was John mad at you?? The 75.00 red fox got me going and I don't want to forget the $8.00 opossum. John R. you knocked it out of the park thanks. Austin it was nice to meet you. Wish I could have stayed later but brother needed to get some sleep and dream about all those mushrats he's going to catch this morning.

I want to take a minute to thank all who were involved and all who participated. THANK YOU ALL ! I have a great time at the Flatiron, every time I'm there. It certainly reminds me of the "old days" when when there were long lines of trappers and hunters waiting at the door to sell their hard earned skins. I'd also like to commend you all on the top notch fur handling by each and every trapper/hunter that comes thru the Flatiron Fur Shed door. It is a pleasure to be able to purchase goods that require no further work on my part when I get them home. I do my best to make sure you are all compensated to the best of my ability. Our next sale at the Flatiron will be on January 19th and will start much earlier and I'll be on time since there is no auction to attend that day! I hope to see you all again and a few new faces as well. Thanks again guys and especially to Von and Michelle for putting up with me and keeping me well fed. Gordy, I wasn't mad at Austin, just getting tired by that time. I think we finished up the buying part in the fur shed somewhere between midnight and 1:00 am. It was a long day. I have to clarify the $75 red fox. That was the one Fuzz and Wade pulled in half so I had to pay Von for two foxes The $8 possum was pure speculation Fuzz, thanks for keeping the fur bagged again buddy. I sure appreciate that ! See ya all next month and thanks again guys.

See ya all next month and thanks again guys. hey... don't be mad at me for bringing furs late and keeping you at the table until 11:30pm. It was you and Von telling the old war stories of trapping down south and snaring in England that took so long. I really was hoping you'd get distracted and leave those last two cookies Gordy brought unattended. We're friends and all, but to be honest I'd have snatched them cookies out from under your nose and scarfed them down like a hungry dog. Considering I already had six or seven and was ashamed of being a cookie hog already, eating the last two remaining wouldn't have added any more guilt. Best d@mn cookies I've eaten in a long time. Those things would sell for big money at the stores. I'm serious!
