I'm trying some of these. What do you guys connect them to the trap chain with? I was thinking an S hook. Is that strong enough? Thanks

You should use a swivel (with J hooks) to connect to cable stake. If you have a swivel already at end of chain then just connect that, just open the J hook and then re-close on cable end.

I use Quick links the 1\8" are plenty strong . I have double stake ends made up that can use or use cble stakes or drags. Just leave the link on your trap chain and your ready to use what ever anchor meathed you need.

j hook with swivel as you can never have enough swivels & that is on before the stake is driven so the trap chain & all is below or level with ground , also makes it harder for trap thieves.

Drive em in so that the swivel is just below the ground. As the critter works it it will pull up just enough to allow it to work freely. On the rare occasion I need to double stake I just put two stakes in the J-hook and drive each one, at an angle, away from each other.

Quick links are nice but thieves can remove them easily without any tools and bye bye trap

wayne....If you put a little torque on the quicklink when you hook up your cable stake there`s no way anyone is getting them loose without a pair of pliers...

girth hitch is nothing more than threading the loop of the cable stake thru end of trap chain, then threading the other end of cable stake thru loop in cable stake, (i do not recommend for anything larger than coon or fox as theres no "stretch" when larger critters ie: coyote, lunge) its fast, can be done on the fly, and doesnt require any tools or hardware
