This will be my first year trapping, and I have been looking to add a few more trapps to my line.I will be targeting fox and coyote and was wondering if anybody has had any experience with bridger 1.65,not shur if they are to small for the coyote but like I said I have never trapped anything.Thank you to anyone that can help.

The 1.65 will hold a coyote, especially if you have them baseplated and jaw laminations added but it's not a preferred coyote trap. If you will only be catching say a 1:5 coyote to fox ratio you won't have any problems....however, if it's the other way around you should most certainly opt for a bigger trap. My personal preference is bigger is better as a bigger jawspread gives you an increased opportunity for the critter to put his foot on the pan and even a 1/2" jawspread difference can be the factor in a catch or a miss.

Ditto... The #2 sizes offer a better chance at all. Bridger, Victor or a 1.75 Sleepy Creek (which IMO is really a #2 sized trap). I prefer the offsets. And swap out the chains for #3 USA chain.. Use the stock chain for coon/rat/mink traps.

If you choose to stick with a small size bridger trap. Get the new 1.75 size trap. They are much better than the 1.65 trap.the 1.75 includes a pits style pan and night latched dog plus a heavy D ring baseplate, good chaunmwivels,
