Dear Friends, R.C.Smith wrote a book titled " Johnny Thorpe - an Interview with a Legend"..........John told me he thought the book was "terrible", but I thought it was a good read. Regards

We all certainly hope things go better for Johnny this year than last. He sure did have his share of problems last year; had a lot of us really worried.
Johnny called me, just before Christmas, and said that he was all done trapping - just couldn't do it anymore. He tried to do too much last fall after all the health issues through the summer. I know there is no way that he can just plain call it quits and never put a trap out again. I hope he can find a way to slow down a bit and just do what he is physically able to and still enjoy it. It's hard to do when you have yourself as your biggest critic and feel like you have to constantly prove to that critic that you can do better every year. There comes a time when that just isn't possible anymore............................. Johnny sure has nothing he needs to prove to anyone - We know !

I say John should just enjoy the countless friends and admirers he has acquired and just relax and trap just what he can without punishing himself. He has already given more than anyone has a right to expect.

I mentioned this book to Mr. Thorpe at a convention and he said the same thing to me. I personally really enjoyed the book. Old R.C. wrote two very good method books on canines. Scott
