I like the trap and the setup...but got to ask....you say you got 30 so far....any of them ermine (white)....cause them brown ones ain't worth anything. How many sets you running to get 30?

actually, i pay 5 bucks whole for them brown ones and shipping, i also pay 5 bucks whole for the prime ermine also, i dont disclose what i do with them, been buying and selling fur for 20 years, have some great markets, ive got 48 sets out that i move around like that plus a few dozen boxes, have gotten only 4 of the brown weasels this year myself. . also i luv mink,if i see a track,i swear i pick him up the next trip or two,all blind sets, but this set up would be to small for the average mink, heck to small for a grey, red pine and chipmunks work.dog

30 Weasels is quite an impressive number. How many of those little coni's do you have? I think it would be nice to own half a dozen or so. ;D

i had 5 dozen made up,but a cousin bought 1 dozen of them, ive got 48 myself, it cost me around 14 bucks a piece to have made, then i figured a way to make them way cheaper, think about this, the laminated strips you buy for traps, just need a touch more curl to them and a nut welded, then the other is just a touch shorter and welded the same, rivit add a dog and trigger from 110's(those on mine are bridger or duke ) the dog is cut to one notch and the trigger wires trimmed, the spring itself is only half the size of 110's would have to find them, i also have 3 inch square ones made, only have a dozen left, but those were made with 110 springs, just a little to much power, ill have to get some pics of the ermine ,hoping to do another 20,that would make me happy, i say it would be nice to own just about every deal i find on traps, i bought another 11 dozen just with in the last 2 weeks ,and you dont want to know how many i already have, its several thousand easy,my wife says i have a problem, and when the dec come to tag, they love looking at the trapping items i have. they also love those 3 inch round set ups for ermine, dog

funny you ask,i wouldnt use it as so many told me to,cause i love that stuff, liver, its the first thing i eart when i get back from hunting with a deer. i do how ever use the livers i dont eat, like from all the other species that i harvest on the line, still think, chinken liver is best of all,i use mainly salt, cheap and fast as an antifreeze to keep it bloody and fresh,i freeze alot and get it out when im low and mix up a batch,i now have 37 .took a pic of one bag i had frozen up and that count ws i think 25 /26 and i already stared another group , should finish out with around 50 i hope by the new year.

You're the Weasel King. Plain and simple, I've never even heard of anyone catching that many Weasels in a season. Let me know if you ever want to part with 6 or 8 of those little coni's

Been looking at this trap with real interest, they look like they would be great for rats and young grey squirrel I know it was said in the thread that " i figured a way to make them way cheaper, think about this, the laminated strips you buy for traps, just need a touch more curl to them and a nut welded, then the other is just a touch shorter and welded the same, rivit add a dog and trigger from 110's(those on mine are bridger or duke ) the dog is cut to one notch and the trigger wires trimmed, the spring itself is only half the size of 110's would have to find them," but I was lost at the "laminated strips you buy for traps" - not sure what these are at all. How easy is it to put something like this together or is there someone out there making these for sale that you can buy from. There was two other things I didn't really understand on the thread though. 1. Why is it caught at the back-end rather than behind the head, is this intentional - for my purpose it would be better to get a clean kill strike on the neck just behind the head? 2. It was mentioned that a stronger spring such as the 110 would be inappropriate - didn't really understand why unless it was to do with damaging the fur? I don't do any trapping other than for pest control - so mice, rats (mainly break back traps), grey squirrel (BGM 110's), the odd American mink, rabbit (cage or BGM 110's), fox (cage) and that's about it. Always felt as though I could do better if I could use a bodygrip style in a 4" pvc pipe just as you have shown here.
