I've had good results with both. Mice are a part of ther diet. Beaver oil and ground sacs, in my opinion, intrigues them. Grey fox are attracted by a wide assortment of odors. Regards papabear

How did you come up with the ingredients? Why did you choose them? Can you give a break down as to why for each ingredient and what it does?

So far our formula consists of beaver oil sacs, castor and skunk essence..... I would like to reccomend an ounce of asafoetida. Regards papabear

Guys -----sorry to say I have been away because of work---(not bad for a guy who has been retired for 12 years)------I dont like to be the odd man out but ---I dont like to use skunk for any thing other than fisher----I think it has the ability to draw way to many non-target animals and birds.----But that is only me and Ill go with the vote. Now the asafoetida---you bet sounds like a winner to me----might I suggest tonquin if we dont use skunk.

Mr Bill, Dont be sorry for working, and happy your back. Tonquin is one of my favorites, and sounds good to me. How much would you suggest? And dropping out the skunk would be fine by me, if its ok with Master Brandon. Also you had mentioned adding a mint odor in an earlier post, Whats your thoughts about adding some Rodium to achieve a touch of minty odor? In my opinion Rodium would nicely compliment what we have already chosen. Regards papabear

papabear----I agree with you --- (sounds good) I would not add the tonquin until the very end of our ingredient selection.---Do we want to add more?

Well this formula is starting to take shape. We have a 1 pint Sac oil base, 2 oz of beaver castor, ? aged fox glands, 1 oz asafoetida, ? tonquin, 1/2 oz rodium...........................Hmmmm

I was thinking Valerian to intice a territorial / aggressive response but the Orris Root and Cummings intrigue me as I have no experience with them. The Ambrette musk is nice to work with. Regards papabear

How do you come up with how much of each ingredient to use? I wish I could contribute to this thread but can only ask questions for now...

Mr Denny, The easiest way to start out is by compounding a couple of proven formulas. Then expand off of them. Research the ingredients to find out whats its intended purpose is. Use your proven formulas as a guideline for future formulas. Regards Bob
