I still have one new bottle of O.L. Butchers fox #2. That's pretty cool. Thanks for the small ride down memory lane.

I still have several bottles of his #4 fox lure,(my favorite), that I bought from Alice and Ray Dantley when they were liquidating the business. I'm guessing it was around 1983-84. Never got to meet him, but he is one of the greats. Thanks for the pics.

His #4 was also my favorite fox lure for many years. Caught very little trash on it. Miss it sometimes.

I grew up and live a 1/2 mile and just over the hill from there. My great uncle used to tell stories of trapping with him in the adirondacks. Too bad i wasn't born about twenty years earlier, would have liked to meet him.

Otter04, All I can say is a BIG BIG BIG THANK YOU!!! My name is Fred Slaughter, and I live in Gassaway, WV, O.L. Butcher (or Uncle Okey) was my uncle, I had the rare privilege of meeting him only 2 time in my life, once he was with his brother Emory & once with his life companion Alice. Both of these times I was very young but was total impressed with his brief visits with my family (his sister/my mother Dollie Slaughter) I was in Atlanta when Okey passed away but remember the phone call when my mother called to let me know. I am now 61 years old and had little hope of seeing Okey's home & business but have fond memories of my fathers stories of when he & Grandpa Butcher (Okeys dad) traveled there one year. I would love to hear from anyone who knew him or could spin a good yarn about experiences they had with him. I am especially interested in any info that anyone may have on his guns, what he used, caliber etc I would give a small farm for any gun he may have ever owned for a family heirloom. Sorry to ramble on, I apologize to the moderator if I have posted in the wrong place, to Otter 04 again thanks I don't believe I could ever make the trip to see it, really means a lot to me. For everyone's info all Okey's brothers & sisters have passed on, the estate was to be settled I was told by the attorney in 2006 as of today it has not been settled & the taxes will probably go deliquent & be sold for those, I really would like to have seen it remain in the family but I guess that's progress. Okey grew up doing a lot of trapping on the forks of the Birch & Elk rivers here in Braxton County, this part of the country is slowly going back in time, the wildlife is coming back and word has it the state has reintroduced Elk back into the wild which were once plentiful, I'd like to think that Uncle Okey would have really enjoyed that. Thanks to anyone who can give me any info. Fred L. Slaughter, 527 Dogwood Rd, Gassaway, WV 26624 Phone 304-644-8445 daytime or 304-364-5890 evenings, email: midstatecommunications@frontier.com Best to all & thanks again Otter o4.......Fred
